Terms of Service

Last updated: August 31, 2026

The short version

  • Anything you put into Redense, you put in at your own risk. You choose what to upload and what to write. Do not put anything here you would not be comfortable sending over the internet to a third-party service.
  • We are not responsible for what happens to it. The Service is provided as is, with no warranty. We do not promise it will be available, error-free, or that your content will never be lost. Keep your own copy.
  • Once a PDF leaves here, it is out of our hands. Anything you download, email, print or share is yours to control. We cannot recall it and are not responsible for where it ends up.
  • AI output is not checked by a human. Read everything before you send it to an employer. You are responsible for the accuracy of your own resume.
  • Do not upload sensitive data. No ID or passport numbers, financial account details, health information, passwords, or anything covered by a confidentiality obligation you owe someone else.

This summary is for readability only. The numbered sections below are the terms that actually apply, and they control if the two ever disagree.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, signing in, uploading content, or using the Redense service (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

We do not email you about changes. We are not going to promise a notification we have not built. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, so if this matters to you, check this page from time to time — it is the only place changes are published.

2. The Service

Redense is a free resume builder. You write the content of your resume in the editor; the Service typesets it in a dense one-page LaTeX template and compiles a PDF.

The Service also offers optional AI features: reading an uploaded document to pre-fill the editor, suggesting alternative bullet phrasings, comparing your resume against a job description, and generating a written review. These features run only when you explicitly trigger them. If you never press those buttons, no content of yours is sent to an AI provider.

AI features are subject to a daily per-account usage limit. We may change, limit, or withdraw them at any time without notice.

The Service is currently offered free of charge. Accounts are limited to a small number of saved drafts (currently three). We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future; if we do, we will update these Terms and notify registered users.

3. Your Content and License

You retain all rights to the content you submit to the Service (resumes, files, text, etc.) ("Your Content"). You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to submit Your Content and that doing so does not violate any third party's rights.

You grant Redense a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, process, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license terminates when you delete Your Content or your account.

Third-party processing. Producing your PDF involves a LaTeX compile worker that converts generated LaTeX source into a PDF. If you use an AI feature, the relevant portion of Your Content is transmitted to our third-party AI provider (currently Anthropic) for the sole purpose of returning that result. We do not use Your Content to train models, and we do not authorize our providers to do so.

You upload at your own risk. You decide what to put into the Service. Do not upload anything you are not comfortable transmitting over the internet to a third-party service, including government identification numbers, financial account details, health information, passwords, or material subject to a confidentiality obligation you owe someone else. The Service is a resume tool and is not designed, tested, or offered as a repository for sensitive personal data.

We do not access your files as a matter of course. Your Content is stored so the Service can show it back to you. We do not read, review, or monitor individual users' resumes as a routine practice, and we have no obligation to do so. We may access specific content only where necessary to operate or repair the Service, to respond to a support request you initiate, to enforce these Terms, or where we are required to by law.

You control your own copies. Content you download, share via a share link, or transmit elsewhere leaves our control at that point. Once you distribute a PDF or a share link, we cannot recall it, restrict who views it, or delete copies held by others. Share links are unlisted rather than secret — treat anyone holding the URL as able to view that resume.

3a. Exactly what we store, and where it goes

This section is deliberately specific. "We take your privacy seriously" is not a description of anything.

Stored in our database: your saved resumes (the content you type or upload), the name you give each one, and your account record from Google sign-in (name, email address, profile image). Saved resumes are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, so a stolen database backup or a leaked connection string yields ciphertext rather than readable resumes.

Be clear about the limit of that: we hold the encryption key. It protects your data from someone who gets the database without also getting our servers. It does not mean we are technically incapable of reading your resume. Any service telling you otherwise while also offering AI features is misleading you.

Sent to a third party: when you use an AI feature, the relevant text is sent to Anthropic to produce that one result, then discarded. When you generate a PDF, the typeset source is sent to our rendering service to produce the file. Neither retains your content after the request completes, and Anthropic does not train on data submitted through their API. If you never use an AI feature, your resume is never sent to Anthropic at all.

Never stored: uploaded files. A PDF or .docx you upload is read to extract its text, then dropped. We keep the extracted resume, not the original document. We also do not write your resume content into our server logs — when something fails, we record the shape of the failure, not the text.

Never sold, never shared: we do not sell your data, rent it, or hand it to advertisers, recruiters, or your school. Nobody buys access to your resume. The only people who see it are you and anyone you choose to send a share link to.

Deleting it: you can delete any individual resume at any time. There is also a single control that erases everything we hold for you — every resume, every share link, and every comment left on those links — immediately and irreversibly, with no recovery window.

What we cannot control: once you download a PDF, it is a file on your computer. Where you email it, upload it, or post it is entirely your decision, and we have no ability to recall it or any responsibility for where it ends up.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, obscene, or otherwise harmful;
  • Misrepresent your professional history, credentials, or identity in a manner that could deceive employers or other third parties;
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying source code, models, or templates;
  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service without prior written permission;
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or its output as part of another product or service;
  • Interfere with the Service's operation, including by overwhelming it with requests or probing for security vulnerabilities.

5. Pricing

The Service is currently free. There are no subscriptions, one-time purchases, or hidden fees. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will update these Terms and notify registered users before any charge applies.

6. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity occurring under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. We use email-based authentication and OAuth (Google) and do not store user passwords.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is"and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

You are solely responsible for reviewing every word of your resume before submitting it to any employer or third party. We do not guarantee employment outcomes.

AI output is unverified. Text produced by the AI features is generated by a statistical model. It can be wrong, misleading, generic, or inappropriate for your situation, and it may produce phrasing that misstates what you actually did. Nothing the AI returns is a factual claim by us about you or your history. You must read, verify, and correct every AI-generated suggestion before you accept it, and you remain fully responsible for the accuracy of your finished resume. Never let a suggestion introduce a qualification, metric, employer, or credential you do not have.

Availability and data loss. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that data will not be lost or corrupted. Keep your own copy of anything you care about. Drafts auto-delete after a period of inactivity, and we are not obligated to recover deleted, expired, or corrupted content.

Security. We take reasonable measures to protect the Service, but no internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot and do not guarantee that Your Content will not be accessed through circumstances outside our reasonable control, including provider compromise, third-party vulnerability, or unauthorized access to your own account or device.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Redense, its operators, contractors, or suppliers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

This includes, without limitation, any claim arising from AI-generated output, loss or corruption of Your Content, unauthorized access to Your Content, downtime, or an employment decision made by any third party.

Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising under or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty US dollars ($50), whichever is greater. Because the Service is currently free, you acknowledge this cap may amount to fifty US dollars ($50).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. Where that is the case, the above exclusions and limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Redense and its operators from any claim, demand, loss, or damages — including reasonable attorneys' fees — arising from (a) Your Content, (b) your use of the Service, (c) your violation of these Terms, or (d) any statement, claim, or representation appearing on a resume you produced using the Service, whether written by you or accepted by you from an AI suggestion.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by contacting support. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, third parties, or the Service.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

12. Contact

Questions, refund requests, and legal notices all go through the contact form. It reaches us directly and it is the only channel we monitor.

We do not publish a personal email address. Using the form means your message is logged and answered rather than lost in a personal inbox, and it keeps a private address off a public page where it would be scraped.

By using Redense, you acknowledge that you have read these Terms and agree to be bound by them.
